As employees of Park Vista, our number one priority is making sure you feel safe, valued, and healthy, both mentally and physically. The past year has been difficult on everyone in many different ways, and we want to ensure you each are prioritizing your wellbeing.

We would like to reintroduce and remind you of our Employee Assistance Program (EAP) that you were given information on in the benefits package when you were hired. Our EAP, WorkLifeMatters, provides you and your family with virtual support across a variety of topics including college planning, maternity education, legal services, work-life balance, managing stress, and psychological counseling. Additionally, consider the following tips for prioritizing your mental wellbeing and maintaining a healthy work-life balance:

  1. Nurture your support system: Develop a network with coworkers who you trust and relate to. Lean on each other for support and act as confidants when workplace stress feels overwhelming.

  2. Meditate or journal: Take 5-10 minutes for yourself before you go to bed to journal about your day and empty your thoughts on paper. If journaling isn’t for you, check out the Headspace app for a guided meditation.

  3. Movement: Make it a goal to get moving each day, even if it’s just a quick walk. Exercise has been proven to impact serotonin levels resulting in a boosted mood and overall sense of wellbeing.

  4. Get enough sleep: Lack of sleep can heighten feelings of stress, anxiety, and depression. The National Sleep Foundation suggests healthy adults get between 7 to 9 hours each night.

  5. Set aside time for YOU: Do something that makes you happy each day like walking your dog, listening to your favorite podcast, reading a good book, or catching up with a friend over coffee.
